Bass Guitar Lessons for Narre Warren Students
Narre Warren is one of Melbourne’s fastest-growing areas. More families, more schools, more young people picking up instruments. And more students looking for bass lessons in Narre Warren with a teacher who actually knows the instrument inside out.
I’m Jeremy LaBrooy. My studio is in Sandhurst, 3977 – on the Carrum Downs edge of the Frankston city boundary. From Narre Warren, you’re looking at roughly 20 minutes via Frankston-Dandenong Road or the South Gippsland Freeway. A manageable drive for a weekly lesson.
A Bass Teacher With Real Depth
I’ve been teaching bass since 1990. That’s over 35 years of one instrument, one focus.
My qualifications: Diploma of Teaching (Primary) from Monash University, and a Diploma of Arts (Music Improvisation) from the Victorian College of the Arts.
From 2002 to 2006 I was a VCE Bass Guitar Examiner for the Department of Education and Training Victoria – four years assessing the very exam your student may be working toward. I know exactly what earns marks at that level. Students selecting works for their program can refer to the VCE Electric Bass Prescribed Works page for the full list.
Jeremy spent years as Senior Bass Guitar Teacher at Haileybury’s Keysborough campus – students from Keysborough are just 15 minutes from his studio. I wrote the bass course curriculum there. Two students – in separate years – won the overall school music award for best achievement in music. I returned to Haileybury in 2024 on contract. Jeremy taught at Killester College in Springvale – bass students from Springvale make the short drive south to his studio in Carrum Downs.
My Working With Children Check is current.
20 Minutes Up the Road
The drive from Narre Warren is straightforward. Frankston-Dandenong Road takes you south. Or pick up the South Gippsland Freeway. Either way, you’re at my studio in around 20 minutes.
For families making the run from near Westfield Fountain Gate or from anywhere across the Casey Corridor, it settles quickly into a comfortable weekly habit – not a chore.
No strip-mall parking headaches. My studio is private, purpose-built, and quiet. One student at a time.
Narre Warren Families: Schools in the Area
Narre Warren is well served for schools. Bass guitar lessons are the specialist complement that class music rarely delivers on its own.
Students from Narre Warren North P-12 College, Narre Warren South P-12, and Narre Warren P-12 College regularly seek private tuition that goes deeper than what’s on offer at school. Hampton Park Secondary College is close by too.
For families at private schools – Don Bosco, Mary MacKillop Catholic Regional College, or Heritage College in Narre Warren South – combining school music with specialist bass tuition is where real progress happens.
Private, one-on-one lessons move at your student’s pace. Technique built correctly from the start. No group classes. No wasted time.
Why a Specialist Bass Teacher Matters Here
Narre Warren has no shortage of music options. Most of them are multi-instrument schools that spread across a lot of ground.
I teach only bass.
Not guitar. Not keyboards. Not drums. Every lesson, every method, every technique I know is built around one instrument. When you’re looking for a bass teacher in Narre Warren, that exclusive focus is exactly what you’re getting.
It matters more than people realise. Bass technique built wrong from the start takes twice as long to fix. A specialist means it’s built right from lesson one.
What You’ll Learn
Whether you’re a complete beginner or a developing player working toward VCE performance, here’s what every lesson is built around:
- Technique – correct hand position, finger dexterity, muting and timing from the ground up
- Songs you love – because playing music you care about is what makes lessons stick
- Music theory in context – reading, rhythm, scales and harmony applied directly to the bass
- Style – rock, pop, reggae, hip-hop, funk and more; I match the lesson to the student
- Advanced techniques – slap, muted thumb, double stops, tapping and beyond, when you’re ready
